El pasado jueves 23 de enero de 2025, el Consejo Mexicano de Negocios en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos (MBC), en colaboración con DP World, organizó un exitoso webinar enfocado en las oportunidades comerciales que Dubái y los Emiratos ofrecen como puerta de entrada a mercados internacionales.

Los Emiratos: Hub Comercial y Logístico Global

Los Emiratos Árabes Unidos (EAU), con su ubicación estratégica entre Europa, Asia y África, se ha posicionado como un enlace logístico y comercial de clase mundial. Según datos oficiales del Ministerio de Economía de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, México es el segundo mayor socio comercial de América Latina en esta región, solo por detrás de Brasil.

En 2023, las exportaciones mexicanas a los Emiratos alcanzaron un valor superior a los 2,000 millones de dólares, destacando productos manufacturados como vehículos, aunque con un bajo porcentaje de exportaciones agroalimentarias, lo que representa un área de oportunidad significativa.

“Dubái no es solo un mercado atractivo en sí mismo; es una plataforma que conecta a más de 3,500 millones de consumidores en Asia, África y Medio Oriente,” señaló Thierry Vantomme, Senior Manager Business Development de Trade and Logistics en DP World.

Además, destacó que el puerto de Jebel Ali, el décimo más grande del mundo, y las zonas francas de Dubái facilitan las operaciones logísticas, ofreciendo ventajas como la exención de impuestos y trámites simplificados.

Uno de los principales puntos abordados fue la necesidad de que las empresas mexicanas establezcan una presencia local en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos. Esto no solo agiliza la logística y reduce costos, sino que también genera confianza entre los socios comerciales locales.

Rodrigo Antillón, miembro del Consejo Directivo del MBC y fundador de Nomad Munch Group, compartió su experiencia como empresario en Dubái. Su empresa, que combina la operación de restaurantes, es un ejemplo de cómo aprovechar el entorno multicultural y turístico de los Emiratos.

“La falta de acompañamiento en mis inicios me costó tiempo y recursos. Por eso, el MBC es crucial para guiar a nuevos empresarios y evitar estos tropiezos",mencionó.

El webinar también destacó cómo México puede replicar el éxito de países como Brasil, que exporta más del doble que México a los Emiratos. Salvador Pérez Galindo, Director de Asuntos Institucionales del MBC, presentó estadísticas que ilustran el crecimiento constante del comercio entre ambas naciones, pero subrayó que todavía hay un gran margen de mejora, especialmente en el sector agroalimentario. Productos como aguacates, frutas tropicales y café mexicano tienen un potencial significativo en este mercado, donde la calidad y autenticidad son altamente valoradas.

Facilidades de DP World para Exportadores Mexicanos

DP World, socio estratégico del MBC, ofrece soluciones logísticas integrales que incluyen servicios portuarios, almacenes y financiamiento comercial. Thierry Vantomme explicó que la zona franca de Jebel Ali (JAFZA) permite a las empresas almacenar productos sin pagar impuestos de importación, realizar actividades de valor agregado y reexportar sin costos adicionales. “Establecer una empresa local en Dubái abre la puerta a múltiples beneficios logísticos y financieros,” puntualizó.

Desde su creación en 2024, el Consejo Mexicano de Negocios ha trabajado de la mano con la Embajada de México en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, DP World y la Cámara de Comercio de Dubái para fortalecer los vínculos comerciales entre ambos países. Con una estructura basada en siete misiones especializadas, el MBC ofrece a sus miembros asesoría en temas como relaciones institucionales, inversiones, marketing y promoción de eventos.

Durante el evento, Cristabel Salazar, abogada especializada en impuestos internacionales, enfatizó la importancia de una correcta planificación legal y fiscal para evitar problemas regulatorios.

  • Diversificación de Mercados: Reducir la dependencia de Estados Unidos e incursionar en mercados emergentes como el Medio Oriente.
  • Promoción Activa: Participar en ferias internacionales como Gulfood.
  • Establecimiento Local: Abrir una empresa en Dubái para agilizar operaciones, generar confianza y aprovechar beneficios fiscales en zonas francas.

Mencionó de manera especial al Embajador Luis Alfonso de Alba, cuyo respaldo brindó legitimidad y fortaleza al Consejo. También reconoció el trabajo incansable de Sofía Barba y Oscar R. Gallegos: “Su compromiso y dedicación hicieron que lo imposible pareciera sencillo”.

Agradeció de forma especial a la mesa directiva integrada por Ingrid Orozco, Lena Janina, Berenice Hernández, Salvador Pérez-Galindo, Rodrigo Antillón Moreira, Fadi Saboune y Patricia Yun. “Su sabiduría, empuje y corazón son la base de este Consejo.
